Batac backs Vigan bid in 7 Wonder Cities of the World tilt

Batac City—The Sangguniang Panlungsod here unanimously passed a resolution certified as urgent by Batac Mayor Jeffrey Jubal Nalupta expressing unequivocal support to Vigan City in its bid to become one of the Seven Wonder Cities of the World.

Batac councilor Avelard Ibarra Crisostomo, committee on tourism chair, said the resolution aims to remind other public officials to support the country’s only city in the selection.

The resolution, he added, signifies the Batac government strong support for Vigan’s bid aside from soliciting help from its constituents through text messages.

Of the about thousand cities in the world, Vigan passed the first elimination phase and became the Philippines’ lone city in the search.

Mr. Crisostomo who is the present Region I chairman of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) is proud for Vigan which is located in the Ilocos region.

Mr. Crisostomo hopes Vigan would again get through the second elimination process for it to be included in the final phase before the end of the year.

Relative to this, Mr. Crisostomo asked the full support of the people of Ilocos Norte to vote for Vigan for the said competition.

Streamers in schools, municipalities and cities in the entire country have been posted requesting to vote for Vigan to be included in the seven wonder cities in the world by texting “vigan10” and sending it to 29290777. (Dominic B. Dela Cruz)
