Laoag City—An international marketing group is currently making waves in Ilocos Norte as it teaches more Ilocanos how to use their hard-earned money wisely.

Instead of depositing their money in commercial banks scattered in almost every corner of the province, the International Marketing Group (IMG) with a newly established corner in Laoag City is giving out free financial coaching seminars in Laoag City on Saturdays and even on weekdays.

On Sept. 14, IMG conducted a convention at a San Nicolas hotel.

Dubbed as “Turning point tour” from  Manila to Hong Kong, Singapore, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Cebu, the IMG based in Ilocos Norte led by financial coach and senior marketing director Maria Dulce Calija hosted hundreds of Ilocanos mostly composed of young professionals and financial advocates  to learn basic financial literacy and unlock their potential to financial  freedom.

The first of a kind financial literacy convention in Ilocos Norte has reached out to all Ilocanos to become part of what seems to be the country’s biggest financial revolution today.

Among the topics discussed during the convention included a number of investment options such as investing in various financial instruments and real business opportunities.

Residents in this agricultural town derived most of their income from the harvest of high value crops, including rice, tobacco and corn as staple crops. This year, the week-long festivity highlighted a grand parade around the town plaza and a pinakbet cook fest at the municipal gymnasium to showcase the best pinakbet in town. A boodle fight followed suit. Earlier, a fun run was participated by various groups ...
